We are the very proud parents of ELIJAH RED AGUIRRE SOLIDUM, and we would like to share his achievement to our kasimanwas to show that we Ibayjanons have the potential to excel in any part of the world.
Elijah qualified to take the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) Talent Search 2005 by virtue of his New York State Standardized Tests scores of 100% in English and 98% in Math. (We were living in Manhasset, NY and he attended the Great Neck School District from Kindergarten to 4th grade. We moved to New Hampshire a year ago - July 2004). Students who achieve scores at the 97th percentile or higher on state standardized tests are invited by the Johns Hopkins CTY to participate in a rigorous set of 3 years above-grade-level exams. The examinations Elijah took were for 8th graders (He was a 5th grader then. He took the test last January (2005)).
There were 6700 qualified students who participated from all over the United States. The Johns Hopkins University CTY give awards to the top 25% high scoring students. The awards ceremony for the State of New Hampshire was on May 21, 2005 at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH. Elijah's scores were in the top 25% for both the Qualitative (Verbal) and Quantitative (Math) Tests. He was invited to receive his awards. A pleasant surprise for all of us was his award as the top scorer (First Place) in Math among 5th graders for the whole State of New Hampshire. He placed 60th nationally out of more than 6700 students.
We also received the results of his 5th grade Terra Nova Testing. This is a standardized test that his current school district (Gilford, NH) uses to compared their students against students nationwide in the same grade. His scores in Reading, Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies were consistently equivalent to that of a 12+th grader.
Elijah was born at Ibajay District Hospital on August 17, 1994. (Those who were with us during his delivery would be happy to learn about this update.) He is playful boy who has a lot of friends, and is popular in his school for his brains and sense of humor. His teachers love him because he is just like the ordinary kid - laid back and just having all the good time that he can have with his friends and family. He plays chess, scrabble, basketball and golf. He also writes beautifully.
