Natividad Miroy Maglantay
December 25, 1916 – Sept. 2008

Finished primary education at Ibajay Elementary School; first and second year high school at Ibajay Academy; third and fourth year high school at Aklan Central Institute, Makato.

Took Elementary Teacher Certificate Combined Home Economics at National Teacher’s College, Manila for one year and was appointed emergency teacher – this was after the World War II, 1948.

While teaching, attended summer classes at PNC, Manila and Baguio to finish ETC Combined HE. Finished BSE Inverted course at Northwestern Visayan Colleges, 1958.

Was married to the late Gonzalo Solidum Maglantay on Decmber 26, 1954. Had 2 children: Pedro who died at birth and Cesar “Bebot” Miroy Maglantay. Had raised 3 more of which she considered her own children: Regalado “Gadoy” M. Andrade, Salve and Viola C. Maglantay.

Awarded Diploma of Merit for OutstandingService as Home Economics Teacher by the Division of Capiz (now Aklan), April 21, 1952.

Served as a Lunch Counter Teacher at Ibajay Elem. School – feeding indigent children from barrio schools since most of the barrio schools at that time have primary grades. Retired at the age of 63 in 1977.

Was crowned Maria Elena on May 30, 2002. An active member of the Miraculous Virgin and the Ladies of Charity.
